A COMMANDING century from skipper Benji Hector sped Banbury to a handsome six-wicket victory over Radlett in high-scoring match at White Post Road on Saturday.
Radlett seemed to have set a stiff target when they scored 249-7 from their 66 overs.
However, thanks to Hector’s unbeaten 132, Banbury got home with more than six overs in hand.
Ryan Newhook struck two early blows when Radlett batted, but a third-wicket stand of 120 between Steve Lowe and Shane Burger turned the innings around.
Burger went on to score 106 off 141 balls and Lowe was out for 63. Newhook, who took two wickets in his second spell, finished with highly-creditable figures of 4-33 from 14 overs.
Hector dominated Banbury’s reply. He and Chris Smith added 97 in rapid time for the first wicket, before Smith departed for 39, made off 43 balls.
Craig Haupt added a rapid 30 before being run out, but Hector saw Banbury home, striking one six and 17 fours in his scintillating 146-ball dispay.
Banbury’s victory took them up to third in the table.
