Bledlow 30 points : Banbury 11

Banbury found scoring almost impossible on a slow low wicket. Nathaniel Gregory played faultlessly for 27 overs before perishing, but found no support from larger and stronger teammates. Linnell controlled line and length at ultraslow pace and deserved 5 for 20. Spooner bowled a lot too and inevitably picked up wickets.

Bledlow expected to find the runs easily after two wide full tosses from off spinner Chris Phillips got them underway. J Bacon batted well until the Peter Gregory slipped into action in the 19th over. Bacon’s 24 was the highest score for Bledlow. Three further Bledlow batters were clean bowled by Gregory and with J Reclek run out to Chris Phillips throw, Banbury sniffed a remarkable victory. 8 needed and 2 wickets in hand, M Saunders had other ideas and elegantly cover drove Phillips to the boundary twice. Bledlow winning by 2 wickets felt a shade lucky to escape and Banbury were left to rue 15 extras and a pile of missfields.
