U13 Banbury Cricket Pre-Season Tour – A Fantastic Few Days! 🏏
Our U13 squad has just wrapped up a brilliant pre-season tour in Glastonbury at Millfield Prep School, and we couldn’t be prouder of the way they performed – both on and off the pitch.
Across four matches, the boys showed real development, teamwork, and passion for the game. We started the tour with 6 hours of training on Day 1 with nets, fielding and strength and conditioning sessions. Followed up with a trip up the Glastonbury Tor!
The second day started with a strong and confident win, with some excellent bowling up top and a composed chase that set the tone for the days ahead.
In the second game we faced a very high-quality side who really tested us. Although we came up short, the lads showed real fight, discipline, and improvement. Our fielding was good, we had great spells with the ball, and some valuable time at the crease under pressure from a very good attack.
Two 25 over matches in a day was always going to be a tough ask but the energy levels they all displayed was amazing.
That evening the lads had the opportunity to go swimming and have some fun on the inflatable slip and slide. The lads had a blast, I’m and sure they enjoyed watching their coach fall in the pool over and over again trying to get to the end in vain.
The third day started very early with a 9am start in another 25 over match, in the first match we faced a very good bowling attack and after losing a few early wickets our young batting duo did a fantastic job to get us a total. In end the opposition chased down the target (even with Alistair taking his 4 wickets throwing his bombs) but again the lads showed real fight and discipline taking one such an impressive side.
In the final match, we finished on a real high. After being asked to bat first, the team posted an impressive 146 in 20 overs, thanks to some powerful hitting and smart running between the wickets. With the ball, we kept things tight from the start and showed great control and energy in the field to restrict the opposition to just 105, securing a strong win to round off the tour.
Every single player contributed over the 4 games as we mixed and matched the bowling / batting lines up which again is credit to the lads for trying new things.
More than just results, what really stood out was the attitude, behaviour, and togetherness of the group. They supported each other, played the game the right way, and were a real credit to themselves and to Banbury CC throughout the tour.
A huge thank you to all the parents and volunteers who helped make the trip possible – your support means everything.
This tour has given the team the perfect platform heading into the season ahead. We’re excited to see what’s to come!
