9 Wicket victory over Aston Rowant

The 2nd XI enjoyed a comfortable 9 wicket over Aston Rowant 2nds on Saturday.

Having lost the toss, Aston Rowant elected to bat on a wicket that was pretty flat. Steve Beck and Liam Manley opened the attack, and after a slow start, wickets began to fall. (Beck 6-3-5-2 and Manley 5-2-21-0) Andrew Proctor replaced Manley, and bowled a controlled spell into a stiff breeze, ending with figures of 6-2-7-2.

Josh Megson, making his second team debut bowled with good pace, and in his last over under the ECB regulations, found the edge of A Hulse’s bat, and the chance was taken by Neil Megson. The first of many father, son dismissals to come!

The Hill spin twins (well, one of them spins it) were then brought into the attack, and both bowled well. (Josh Hill 6-2-19-1 and Paul Hill 8-5-8-2)

Marc Rorich had his first bowl in many months, and after a rusty start, took the wicket of J Stacey with a late swinging yourker. (4-0-25-1)

Youngster Josh Megson can back into the attack to finish off the innings by bowling C Davies. His final figures were 5.3-0-38-2. But the majority of the runs were through the vacant 3rd man boundry.

Aston Rowant finished on 132 all out.

In reply, Banbury never looked in any trouble. Jonti Cook and Ally Jarvis opened the innings, and put on 104 for the first wicket. Jonti was the cheif destroyer, hitting 74 off 69 ball. Jarvis at the other end was boring everyone to sleep, with 25 off 60 balls.

Marc Rorich joined Jarvis at the crease, and made a tidy 22.

Banbury reached the target in the 26th over.
