Match report by Neil Megson
On the face of it a 157 run win for the 3rds a stroll in the park, but not a bit of it… Another toss lost by me, that’s 7 from 8 this season,i genuinely don’t know why i bother…We are asked to bat on another bowler friendly wicket,Stantons seamers bowled well, Adnan Ahmed out first ball(thats the end of his day .. or was it!!??) The experienced Lee Marland and Craig Haupt dug in,we sure rode our luck though,5 catches dropped of varying difficulty,Craig and Lee putting away anything loose to keep the scoreboard ticking.. Craig finally out for a really good 49,Lee soon followed for 70, 66 of those runs in boundaries, another splended hit from him.. We then subsided from 112-1 to 159-6 and were struggling a bit.. But a brilliant 70 run partnership by Will Briggs and James Bristow saw us to a superb score 241 – 8..Briggs with a very composed 39 the backbone, but U16 Bristow batted superbly to finish 40 not out,an absolutely brilliant partnership… I have to say we thought 180 would be a score so 241 in our view was out of sight..
Once again Tom Anderson to the fore as he knocked over Stantons 2 best players, 2-18 for Tom.. Will Marland also good 2-21 as Stanton stumbled to 43-4..Enter Adnan Ahmed who bowled one of the more remarkable spells, he just hit an area in a sensational spell.. 9.5 overs 6 maidens 5 for 6,his figues spoiled with his penultimate ball going for 4,an incredible spell.. Craig Lynes chipping in with his first senior wicket for us too as we shot Stanton out for 83 in 28 overs.. We also caught everything which is obviously handy.. Hook Norton at home next week in a top of the table clash.. Onward
