Match report by Neil Megson
Rubbish start to the day for me,a tyre blow out on route to the game, got the spare tyre on without a problem but undoing the spare from its lock was like a game from ‘The Krypton Factor’ #moderncars
Another toss lost, thats 5 in a row this season now and Twyford 2nds had a bat,we bowled nicely with no luck as they got to 25 in 9,but then a burst of 4 wickets in 20 balls, one for Tom Anderson and 3 for Rich Gostslow on debut reduced them to 31-4.2 good slip catches by Craig Haupt,Jimmy Crosby chipping in with one too as it soon becomes 59-5,we are now in the pound seats,M. N. Khan then held the innings together but boy did he have some luck, we dropped him 4 times, all relatively easy, Khan ended on 106, jeez i hope he did the lottery last night, some woeful catching coupled by 31 single wides as Twyford finished 234 all out in the last over… We really only had ourselves to blame as we should have been chasing no more that 170….Anderson and Crosby finished with 2 wickets as did young leg spinner Will Hutchinson… The boys had a bit of a spraying at tea after a frankly ordinary performance in the field by us…
In reply we got off to a steady start as the Twyford opening bowlers bowled well, 8 off the first 7 overs, then both Adnan Ahmed and Lee Marland took off,we raced to 79 in 17,Adnan out for a hard hit 32,Craig Haupt then run out by about 6 yards in not the best judged run of his illustrations career… Craig Lynes joined Lee and played a fine 2nd fiddle role as Lee smashed the Twyford attack to all parts of the ground… He was finally out(knackered) for a truly magnificent 103..we then lost 4 quick wickets as the presure grew but Craig Lynes held the innings together and saw us to victory with 5 balls to spare 8 down… Craig finishing on an excellent 47no….big Rich Gostelow with 9no ably assisting him over the line… In the end a cracking game on an excellent pitch, oh how lucky we are to have this facility, the ground and pitch absolutely first class…
Cropredy 2nds away next Saturday,Bletchingdon away next Sunday in the Airey Cup,should be a spanking weekend… … Onwards
