1st Trophy of the season already in the bag

Our U13 Girls retained their Oxon Lady T’s title on Sunday at Bicester in somewhat easier fashion that last year and for the 3rd time in 4 years. In their 3 games (8 overs per innings) we scored 212 runs with 99 against (top scorers were Emily Ong 40 NO, Lucy Hunter 23 for 2 out, Charlotte Boland 22 NO & Lauren Manning 20 NO). Top bowling was Sophie Mitchelmore (4-14-3) & Charlotte Boland (5-26-2). The girls will now go on to represent the County at the Regional finals in August. Well done to all the girls who played, parents for their support and the new Management team.

The U13 Girls played Charlbury in their 1st league game of the season this evening and won convincingly. Starting on 100 in the pairs format, Banbury reached 218 for 1 (Lucy Hunter 14, Emily Ong 11NO, Charlotte Boland 11 NO). In return Charlbury were 87 for 13 with the multiple wicket takers being Amy Freeman (4), Jessica Wieshieu (4), Emily Ong (2) and Shannon Dawes (2).

The U15 Girls (also under new Management) have played two matches beating Shipton by 27 runs (Harriet Boland 27 NO, Amy Freeman 1-0-2-2) and Charlbury by 116 runs (Harriet Boland 26 NO, Kate Davies 25 NO, Sarah B-Green 2-0-8-3, Chloe Hill 2-0-4-2, Emily Ong 2-1-2-2).

The U11’s (with their new management team) will get their season underway on Sunday 10th at Whitepost Road with the 2nd of the planned U11 festivals (the first one was postponed). Please do come along and support our girls, including 5 of the Oxon County squad, in this festival.

Continuing with the theme of female cricket, the Women finally got their season underway yesterday after all of their previous games were cancelled due to the weather. They played Charlbury Ladies 2nds at Horton View, winning by 34 runs in a 20 over game. Harriet Whinmill top scored with 52, Hannah Tweddle chipped in with 22 NO and Hannah also took 3 wickets. Ellie Bull (2) and Yasmin Wren were the other wicket takers. Mention should also go to Kiren Bilkhu who bowled 2 overs for just 3 runs.
